Like I have mentioned earlier, technology has become a major part of life today. There are many social networks that can be joined on the internet like Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. I believe that the more connected you are with the world, the better you can promote yourself. With a large social network, people will be more willing to provide constructive or positive feedback. By staying connected with the world, a businesswoman can see what are the latest trends and what people are finding interesting. By studying trends, a businesswoman can construct her project around what has been getting people interested. With knowledge on how to use a social network, a businesswoman can find interest groups or certain types of people for a particular project and see what she can do to be more successful.

I believe that women in business must have a blog because although women have gained the same rights as men, there are still some jobs that are dominant in men. By setting an example for future businesswomen, I believe that professional women today should be taking advantage of the internet and blogs. If done right, a business woman can successfully market herself, improve on her projects and ideas through feedback, and create a social network through blogging. Many women have become businesswoman and it is up to them to show the world what they are capable of.

Many women have established themselves as a businesswoman and now that technology has become a major part of life, it would be extremely beneficial for a woman to take advantage of it. I believe that women in business must have a blog because it helps them market themselves easily, lay out their ideas and opinions and receive feedback from others, and create a social network. Some business may be about who you know instead of what you know, but with careful and strategic fusion of knowing both, a businesswoman can use a blog to her advantage.

There are people who have outgoing personalities and then there are those who don’t. Either way, a blog can be used as a marketing tool. By blogging about their ideas, opinions, experiences, and/or beliefs, a woman can create a positive image of herself therefore earning respect from others. If a businesswoman grows to be well-respected, her reputation and credibility can be beneficial to her work. If good word gets out to potential clients about a specific someone, her business can flourish. Also, I believe the more a professional woman blogs, the more it sets an example for other businesswomen.

Sometimes, people can think of ideas that seem brilliant and fool-proof. It can be difficult for one person to think of possible disadvantages to a plan they think is so perfect. If a businesswoman can blog about her ideas and what she wants to accomplish, other people around her can provide her with constructive feedback. With an idea or plan, sometimes it is best to test it out to see if it will bring success. A blog can very well do this by seeing how people respond and evaluate what about the idea should be modified. Also, although a businesswoman is professional, it is possible for her to get embarrassed or hurt that her idea or plan was actually not that perfect. Finding that out through a blog may help her not feel so defeated. Although people giving the feedback can be unknown, I believe it is a better system to use because it is available to anyone with internet access which means that more feedback can be provided

Hannah Kearney claimed the first gold medal for the United States at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. She bested favorite Jennifer Heil of Canada in the moguls competition, becoming the first American to win a ladies’ moguls gold medal since Donna Weinbrecht did it in 1992. Her winning point total of 26.63 was a career record. She beat Heil by nearly a full point, which is considered a huge margin of victory.

The moguls competition is scored in three categories – turns, jumps, and time. Kearney had a near perfect final run in all of these categories. In her first jump she went head over heels with back flip layout. She landed cleanly and then flew through the moguls. Her final jump was a 360 degree helicopter, which she landed very cleanly as well. After crossing the finish line she pumped her fist, knowing that she had probably just secured a gold medal.

Kearney redeemed herself from a disappointing 2006 Olympics, where she was the favorite but ended up finishing 22nd. Since 2006 she suffered from a very bad concussion as well as an ACL injury. But through all the disappointments and injuries, she never gave up on her dream of coming back for the 2010 Olympics and winning a gold medal.

Over the last nine months Kearney has endured extremely rigorous workout sessions. Before her first run at the Olympics, her trainer handed her a card with a lightning bolt on the front. Inside were her totals for all the training she did over that time. She climbed over 25,000 steps, did 14,000 trampoline and rope jumps, and spent 126 hours on a bike. She also did over 1,000 tricks jumping off of ramps and landing in a pool of water. All of her hard work paid off on Saturday night.

The moguls competition was a great showing for usa womens sports in general as Kearney’s American teammate, 29 year old Shannon Bahrke, finished with a score of 25.43 and took home a bronze medal. But the spotlight belonged to Kearney after she completed her near flawless run.

After the run, Kearney said that she was glad to have set the tone for the U.S. in this Olympics by winning the first gold. She also said that her main goal was to be a part of an Olympic film montage; a goal which she accomplished with her remarkable performance.

The countdown is on to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Thousands of winter athletes from all over the world are gearing up for what should be a exciting two week period. One team hoping to get revenge against their rival country is the usa womens hockey team. The have had to settle for silver medals the past two Olympics. Each loss in the gold medal game was to Canada. Canada and the USA have dominated the sport since it debuted in 1998 in Nagano, Japan.

This year the two teams rivalry is more intense then ever considering Canada is playing on their home turf. The American team is looking to redeem a loss on their soil in Salt Lake City in 2002. That year the team came into the gold medal game on a 35 game winning streak in international competition.

The Americans believe that playing on your home turf can add to the pressure and hope they can play the bad guys in Vancouver. The Canadians know that nothing less than gold would be a huge disappointment. The Canadian women know hockey is their blood and that’s why expectations are so high.

Both teams come into these Olympics with a bunch of new faces. The USA has 15 new players and Canada has over 10 as well. They look forward to putting on the skates and getting familiar with each other.

Both teams are fairly young since the sport is only its fourth games. Hilary Knight one the young stars of the American team is competing in her first games and is pretty excited.

Another young team that could spark upset of either two favorites is the Swedish team. They upset the Americans back a couple years ago in the world championships and are hoping to do it this time in the Olympics

Altogether the women’s hockey portion of the Olympics should be fun to watch. Many people may be unaware that it is in the Olympics and this year should be its coming out party. At least that is what the Canadians and usa women are hoping for.

Women’s hockey is trying to breach a gap that has existed for so long in Olympic competition. The want to take the hegemonic state that hockey is in and create a new and exciting sport that more people will tune into. So watch February 14 when the action begins.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic opening ceremony is just around the corner, about twenty days to be exact. It will be interesting to see how the team USA womens hockey will do.
A sport typically known to be male dominated, like some many other unfortunately, the coach for this Olympic team is Mark Johnson. Johnson is currently in his seventh season as head women’s ice hockey coach at the University of Wisconsin. He has a .802 winning percentage coming into the season and is one of the top active coaches in NCAA Division I.
Returning to the rooster are six veteran players, two of the players Jenny Potter and Angela Ruggiero will be playing in their fourth Olympic games. The team includes 6 Olympians, 19 world champions, 9 NCAA national champions and a long repertoire of other awards and titles that go along with each of the players on the team. This experienced team will hopefully have the advantage leading to the medal stand, in the past USA womens hockey has been one of the leading forerunners in every tournament, minus the 2006 Winter Olympics having won the bronze medal over Finland.
The preliminary rounds will begin February 13, the rounds are doublie elimination allowing for a small window of chance. Group B in the preliminary rounds will have an interesting Valentine’s day as they duke it out to find out who will continue on to the medal rounds. The U.S. women’s team is in group B, playing game 3, against China. Also scheduled to play that day is Finland versus the Russian Federation. The U.S women’s team is playing game 7 in the preliminary round against Russia on February 16. Their last preliminary game is schdueld for February 18, against Finland. February 20, depending on which countries made it past the preliminary rounds will begin their way toward the medal stand.
Hopefully the women’s team will make it past the preliminary rounds allowing them for a chance to win another medal for the U.S. It is with great hope that these women, along with the skill they have acquired over a long career in ice hockey, will give them the capacity to play and win. Hopefully the country will all tune in and watch the women as they make their way through the preliminary rounds and eventually to the final games leading to the U.S. anthem being played while standing and waving and their fellow Americans.
